  • Neurotech Receives $35 Million in Funding

    NeurotechPharmaceuticals Inc. has raised $35 million in a Series B round to advance Phase II studies of its therapeutics for chronic retinal diseases. The Lincoln, R.I.-based company has three ongoing Phase II trials for its lead therapy candidate and its delivery system known as Encapsulated Cell Technology.


    Creative Circle Advertising Expands Market, Client Base

    Creative Circle Advertising Solutions (CCAS), makers of the adQ: Intelligent classifieds web entry system, has expanded into the Asia Pacific region. The company also signed its second television news station client, NBC 7/39 San Diego. (more)


    BioProcess Technologies Generating Sales, Profits

    Slater-backed BioProcess Technologies, an innovative water filtration company, is seeing green - both environmentally and economically. The 10-person, privately held company, which just started marketing its products commercially in 2004 to municipalities, companies and farms, is turning a profit and expects to have several million dollars in revenue this year.


    Selva Medical Acquired by W.L. Gore & Associates

    Slater-backed Selva Medical Inc., a medical device company developing a minimally invasive, laser-based treatment for the treatment of stroke and other cardiovascular conditions, was acquired by W.L. Gore & Associates’ Medical Products Division. W.L. Gore & Associates’ Medical Products Division has provided therapeutic solutions to complex medical problems for over three decades. The privately held company generates annual revenues in excess of $2 billion and has global operations in 45 locations around the world.


    FarSounder Receives Patent for 3-D Sonar

    FarSounder was issued a U.S. patent for its sonar technology, the second patent the company received this year. FarSounder's sonar system generates 3-D images of what's on the ocean floor and is especially designed for shallow water imaging.


    Traction TeamPage Named a KMWorld Trend-Setting Product of 2006

    KMWorld magazine recognized Traction Software’s TeamPage as a "robust enterprise blog platform" in their Trend-Setting Products of 2006 review. Having received this award for the third consecutive year confirms Traction Software's continued innovation and leadership in the blog and wiki market.


    Andera Named Leader in Fast-Growing Online Account Opening Market

    A recent research report from Aite Group names Andera the leader in the fast-growing market for online account opening solutions, with more customers for account opening and funding than any other vendor. According to Eva Weber, analyst with Aite Group, “Andera is gaining traction, particularly among small and mid-tier institutions.”


    Slater Technology Fund Renews Commitment to Incubator Program

    Slater Technology Fund has renewed its lease for its biomedical incubator facility, extending the fund's commitment to the facility through September 2007. The 7,500-square feet of fully outfitted wet lab space in the Richmond Square Office complex on Providence's East Side is subsidized by Slater for use by biotechnology-based start-ups associated with the Fund.


    Slater Technology Director Among Top 25 Most Influential People in New England Life Sciences

    Senior Director Richard G. Horan was was named one of the most influential people in New England Life Sciences by The Convergence Guide, a recently published book about the trends and issues impacting the growth of the life sciences.
