Greetings!
As of June 20, summer is officially here. In response
to the Sun & Vitamin D talk, I have provided you with
a "Shopper's Guide to Safer Sunscreens" (below), and
a place to Buy Safer Sunscreens
If you missed the talk on the sun & vitamin
D, I will be
giving a lunch-time presentation with even
more valuable information on how to protect yourself -
next Tuesday, June 24th at
11:30am at Beantown Restaurant.
Did you know there is such a thing
as a homeopathic first aid kit? Read all about
the
natural remedies for traditional summer ailments like
bee stings, sunburn, and skin abrasions.
The
pace is slower in the summer. Maybe you can take
some time during your next grocery shopping
excursion to read the food labels and
analyse the product ingredients. We've included an
informative article that will help you with this important
exercise.
The fruits of the
summer are always
family favorites. Enjoy this article about the health
benefits of berries.
Empowering
you to better health!

Is Your Sunscreen More Harmful than the Sun?
|

Dr. Michael Smith
I had a great response to the sun and vitamin D talk.
Many of you inquired about safer sunscreens to use.

Safer Sunscreens"
Be smart about getting good sun exposure this
summer. Click here to Buy Safe Sunscreens.
It has been drilled into our minds to wear
sunscreen to protect us from the sun's rays. But what
if the combination of toxic ingredients in sunscreen
and the inhibited production of Vitamin D (as a result
of the increased use of sunscreen) are contributing to
the increasing rates of skin cancers?

· Are you able to pick up a product, read over its label,
and know for certain whether it is healthy or not?
· Have you ever picked up a product to read its label,
and were confused as to what to look for?

at food labels?

"My Body Doesn't Need As Much Food As I Thought It Did!
"I love the way I look in my new wardrobe. My friends
are amazed and I feel better than I have in long time. I
don't crave snacks. I found out that when I give my
body what it needs, then I don't do "nervous
eating"...AND...my body doesn't need anywhere near
as much food as I thought it did!!!"

Enjoy Berries Twice A Day ...
|
|
... Protect Your Heart Three Ways
Not only are berries especially rich in naturally
occurring polyphenols, but unlike other excellent
sources of polyphenols, such as chocolate and red
wine, berries contain no alcohol or caffeine, making
them an even better potential choice for heart health.
Berries can also be rich in other health-promoting
compounds, including vitamin C, folate, potassium,
and soluble fiber.
Practical Tip: In summer and fall, when
fresh berries
are readily available and much less expensive, buy a
whole flat. Rinse gently, spread on a cookie sheet, pat
dry with a paper towel then freeze for a couple of
hours. Transfer frozen berries to pint-size freezer bags
and store in your freezer for use as desired. As
always, we strongly encourage selection of organically
grown berries.
