Falling can be a little scary, but if you understand how to fall safely, it's not so bad!
Before you skate for the first time, try falling off ice (in your skates).
1) Bend your knees as if you are sitting in a very low chair.
2) Starting leaning toward either your right or left side. You want to catch yourself with the side of your legs. Try not to catch yourself with your arms or hands.
3) After you have fallen, check around yourself (quickly) to make sure you can put your hands on the ice safely.
4) Roll into a crawling position (hands and knees)
5) Bend one knee and bring it forward between your hands so that your foot is resting flat on the ice.
6) Push up with your arms and place your other foot next to the foot that is already up.
7) Raise your self slowly to a standing position.
Falling can happen at any time. When it does, relax your body and go with the fall. Trying to fight it can sometime result in making the fall worse.
