| SKATING TIP |

How to Fall and Get up
Ok - it's back to basics! WE want to be sure that everyone is safe on the ice so here are some tips on how to fall and get up safely:
1) Practice a few times off ice before getting on the ice
2) Fall to one side, not backward or forward
3) Relax and don't fight the fall
4) Protect your head by tucking your chin (wearing a helmet is another great option)
5) Do not use your hands to break your fall (once again, aim for the side of your bottom)
To stand up:
1) Roll to your hands an knees
2) Place one foot on the ice between your hands
3) Then place your other foot between your hands
4) Slowly push to a standing position, keeping your knees slightly bend and your head up
Practicing falling can make ice skating safe and fun! For more instruction on this skill or any other, group and private lessons are available year round!
