Huber Bill to Alter Membership of Transportation Commission Passes First Committee
The bill authored by Assemblymember Alyson Huber (D-El Dorado Hills) to revise the membership of the El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) passed its first committee. Assemblymember Huber was joined by  joint author Ted Gaines (R-Roseville), as well as County Supervisor John Knight, El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Citizen Advisory Committee member Megan Reeves and former County Supervisor Rusty Dupray to offer testimony for the bill in the Assembly Committee on Local Government.

"AB 1204 updates the composition of the El Dorado County Transportation Commission to bring the membership more into balance with the population of the county," said Assemblymember Huber. "This process has been about ensuring all county communities have an adequate voice on the Commission to ensure transportation dollars are spent fairly. The county has changed tremendously, and thus the needs have changed, and how we make decisions should reflect the whole county. Now, local projects will have a familiar face on the board to advocate for the specific transportation needs of that particular region."

The El Dorado Hills Citizens Alliance and Four Seasons Civic League were also at the hearing in support.

AB 1204 proposes to alter the membership of the EDCTC by increasing appointees by the Board of Supervisors from three to four and each incorporated city appoints two members.

The bill now moves to the Assembly Committee on Appropriations.

EID News - February 4 Public Hearing

 water-dr
To better accommodate customers, El Dorado Irrigation District has secured a larger meeting place for the February 4, 2010 public hearing on the district's proposed rate increases. The new venue is the El Dorado Adventist School Gymnasium, located at 1900 Broadway in Placerville, California.

The time of the hearing has not changed. It will begin at 6:00 pm.

Initially, the meeting was scheduled for the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors Meeting Room on Fair Lane Drive in Placerville. "Based on the number of customers who attended our first two workshops, we decided a larger meeting space was needed," said Jim Abercrombie, the district's general manager.

Abercrombie emphasized that the "board and staff have been listening to customer concerns and suggestions over the past several weeks, and staff is working on 'Plan B.' We'll present the outline of that plan at the regular board meeting this coming Monday, and we'll also discuss it at the workshops next week."

The Monday, January 25 board meeting will begin at 9:00 am in the board room of the district's customer service building, 2890 Mosquito Road, in Placerville.

The two upcoming workshops that Abercrombie mentioned will precede the February 4 public hearing. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, January 27, in the Oak Ridge High School Cafeteria, 1120 Harvard Way, EDH. The second will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2010, in the Cameron Park Community Service District building, 2502 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park. Both workshops begin at 6:00 pm.

For more information and for maps to the meeting sites, the district encourages customers to visit  www.eid.org or call 530-622.4513 or 916-965-0930.
