GRC Recommends Chamber Oppose EID Rate Increase
The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce's Government Relations Committee (GRC) met last Tuesday, January 12  to discuss the El Dorado Irrigation District rate hike.  Jim Abercrombie, EID's General Manger did a presentation sharing the how's and why's EID is in need of this rate increase.  Harry Norris, EID Director for the El Dorado Hills area was also present and shared information.  After more than an hour of discussion the GRC voted on their recommendation to the Board.
 
A Special Board meeting was called immediately, and on Thursday,  January 14 , the Chamber Board reviewed the recommendation from the GRC and formalized the recommendation:

"The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce opposes the EID proposed 5 year, 80%, rate increase due to the hardship it would cause local businesses in these tough economic times.

Understanding EID's financial position to meet short-term obligations while ensuring safe and reliable water service, we encourage EID to investigate alternatives and to communicate these options to  their rate payers.
