Times change, don't they?  Just look what has happened during the past six months!

You'd think the whole business world was turning upside down.  But the basics don't change, even though the media is going through a whirlwind of technological progress.  Business still needs to advertise, but "placing an ad" is no longer the standard. The Internet offers ways to promote for almost no cost except the time it takes to strategize and write great copy about your products/services.

By combining search engine advertising (generic and pay per click), publicity, social media, and email marketing, you can stretch your promotion budget to get a lot more bang per buck.  A bit of tweaking can make your invested dollar bring in more revenue.

Any time you want to discuss business promotion, making money, writing, publishing, or just the state of the Universe, call me or email me.  I'd love to examine ideas with you.

Meantime, if you have written an article you think people would enjoy reading, send it to me and I just might publish it in a future issue of this newsletter.

Greetings!

Hey -- This year is 3/4 over -- time to take advantage of the Internet and get started on changing the way you promote your business!
Business, Too, Is Now Becoming All Atwitter
Unless you live in a dark cave, you have heard a lot about Twitter in the past few months.  Yes, Twitter is part of the Social Media craze. Many millions of people are using Twitter, Linked-In, FaceBook, MySpace, Plaxo, etc. etc. etc. - including blogs, to promote their business.

Originally thought of and adopted by teenagers as a public diary sort of thing, Twitter in particular is now being used extensively by business people.  It is the front door to getting your name and company specialties out to the business world and the buying public.

Directing Followers To Your Full Story

Millions of folks are logged in right this moment to Twitter or one of the other so-called "social media" programs. They include business people and your type of customers, who are "following" brief Twitter postings and being directed to proceed to business web sites or blogs.

This provides a marvelous opportunity to broaden your advertising/promotional exposure.

A blog can be as long-winded and specific as you choose, but the tweets on Twitter are limited to 140 characters - that's about 23 words.  So it behooves the creative business manager to post crisp, interesting headline-type copy on his/her tweets and direct readers (followers) to the blog, where the latest info is published and refreshed often.

It takes a lot of time to write good tweets and blog copy, so astute business managers are outsourcing the actual writing to professional copy writers, leaving the business person free to do the job he/she is good at, and which brings in the bacon.

Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing, but nobody else does.
