Construction is Underway!
We are so pleased to begin our long-awaited building project! As you enter campus, you will notice a lot of activity and detours along Torrey Pines Lane. As you approach the school, please drive slowly. Children and parents will be walking around the construction zone and the student drop off zone will be busy.
Drop off and Pick up Information:
- During this first phase of the construction process, a portion of the elementary blacktop playground and the
current front parking lot have been fenced in as a construction site.
- If your child is in second grade or
older, we ask that you drop your child off at the curb by the front
gate of the school and turn around in the cul de sac to exit. Members of the
administration and specialty teachers will be staffing the front gate and will
make sure the children get safely to their classrooms.
- Families of children in first grade or
younger may still use the dirt parking lot at the east end of campus. Please do not park in the two spaces on the street across from the pick-up zone, as crossing in this area is dangerous for our smaller children.
- If you have both older and younger
children, you may choose to drop off your younger child with your older
child at the drop-off area, or you may park and bring them in together. If your older child is dropping off your younger child, please be sure to turn in your permission slip to the office ASAP.
- At pick-up time, between 3:00 and 3:30 PM, limited parking is available across the pedestrian bridge at Hotel La Jolla. Families will need to pick up and depart quickly in order to free up the hotel's parking.
Our primary safety concerns will be with traffic. Please be sure to drive
carefully and slowly during our work and drop your child off only in the
designated drop off areas where TCS staff members will be stationed.

TCS Board Forum: Construction
The TCS Board has created a Communications Committee to provide updates from the Board of Trustees to the parent community about the strategic direction of the school. It will also provide an opportunity for the Board to answer questions and receive feedback.
The TCS Board and administration plan to hold a series of open forums during the school year for families to ask questions, raise concerns, and offer suggestions about school issues.
The first of these forums will update parents about construction issues. This forum is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd at 9:00 a.m. in the auditorium immediately following community meeting. A similar meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30 p.m.
This is a new way for TCS families to receive updates and to give input to the Board. We hope you will join us.
