The Children's School
Neighbor Notes
September 25, 2009
Dear Neighbors,

Apologies for two "Neighbor Notes" in one week, but we think this one will be of particular interest.

As you know, The Children's School has been in the permitting process for our modular classroom addition for the past two years. We have just learned that all of the relevant agencies have signed off on our project and construction will begin on Monday of next week (September 28th). Hayhoe Construction Co. will begin work on the first phase of construction, which involves creating a new front parking lot and entrance way for the school.

This project will greatly enhance the landscaping, safety and general ambiance of the school site on Torrey Pines Lane, which has not been updated by the school district since it was built in 1954.

We have been working closely with the La Jolla Shores Association, the San Diego School District, and the City of San Diego to plan a construction process that will be as smooth as possible, with a minimum of disruption to the neighborhood. The back parking lot at the end of Calle Juela will still be reserved for faculty and staff parking only. We will be instituting a drop-off procedure and have staggered our school's start times so that traffic on Torrey Pines Lane will flow smoothly.

If you have questions, please contact Molly Huffman, head of school, at mhuffman@tcslj.org or (858) 454-0184.

Thank you for your patience as we embark on a project that will make our neighborhood safer, better-looking, and more functional for all!
