Welcome to the first edition of The TCS Weekly Comet email newsletter for the 2008-09 school year! As we prepare for the upcoming year, we want to make sure that you have the information you need. You will receive The TCS Weekly Comet every Tuesday throughout the school year. Then on Fridays you will receive classroom newsletters from your children's teachers.

New Parent Orientation
The TCS New Parent Orientation meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 from 5:00-6:30PM in the TCS Auditorium. At this meeting you will have the opportunity to meet our administrative team, members of the TCS board of trustees, and Parent Association officers. You will also learn more about TCS and our community. All new parents are highly encouraged to attend this special event.

Sneak-a-Peek
How would you like to take a sneak-a-peek at
your classroom for the upcoming school year?
On Friday, August 29 you'll have the
opportunity! Toddlers and preschoolers (and
their families!) are invited to campus from
11:00AM-12:00PM, while prekindergarten
through sixth graders and their families will
visit from 1:00-2:00PM. This is a great
opportunity to take a look at your classroom
and greet your teachers. Please join us! |
TCS Athletic Program
As part of the development of the Nelson Middle Years program, a new athletic program will begin this fall with two sports teams, cross country and flag football, for students in fifth and sixth grade.
Here are a few more details:
- Practices for each sport will be held every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:15 at TCS.
- Each participating student will be asked to pay $200 to help cover coaching and uniforms.
- A fun, optional camp will be held next week, from Tuesday, August 26 - Friday, August 29, from 2:30-4:00PM for all students who are interested in fall sports.
- A brief Q&A session for parents will be held on Wednesday, August 27 from 4:00-4:30PM so you can ask all the questions you might have about the sports teams.

Kids' Club Donations?
Kids' Club, our before- and after school childcare program, is looking for a few donations. If you have a gently-used couch or some arts and crafts supplies that you would like to donate to Kids' Club, please contact Rachel in the office at rridgeway@tcslj.org or (858) 454-0184.

Coming in Next Week's Comet
With the beginning of the school year comes sign-up time for both fall enrichment classes and the school's lunch program.
Fall enrichment classes will offer some old favorites such as Play Ball and Musical Theatre, and some new classes such as Magic Treehouse Adventures and Spanish Around the Globe. There's even something for adults with Mac 101, a technology class! Information and online registration will be available soon on our website.
The ever-popular school lunch program will begin during the second week of school. We've offering a menu that includes choices from such places as Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, and more. In addition, we're taking the registration for the lunch program online! You'll be able to sign-up and even pay for your child's lunches right on our website.

Register for 2008-09
|
With only a couple of weeks until the first day of school, it's time to complete your registration for the 2008-09 school year if you haven't already done so. You can access the online registration via the link below.
Remember, state law requires us to have current registration information for all students in order to admit them to even the first day of school!
