Happy New Year to all of you!

2006 was a great year for the ADHD Information Library’s family of websites, as we saw over 500,000 parents and teachers finding quality information on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Now, looking ahead to 2007 we will be making some BIG changes with both the ADHD Newsletter and with several of our websites.

Regarding this ADHD Newsletter, we have over 8,000 families and teachers receiving our newsletters every week. But it has mainly been “one-way” communication. That will change this week.

We are opening a new website for you at ADHDnewsletter.com

We will post all of our newsletter articles on that website in a blog format.

You will be able to make comments regarding any and all of the articles.

Think of all of the times when you read one of the articles, and you were certain that you knew more about the subject than I did, but you had no way of sharing your experiences or insights with the ADHD Newsletter community. Now you will be able to write comments, and share your experiences with others.

At the new site there are different levels of participation – anyone visiting the site can view the articles and the comments, but only a REGISTERED USER can

Some Kids Don't Like Taking Meds - Study
    adhd medication

A new study published in the Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing reports that many children and teens stop using stimulant medications for the treatment of ADHD even though they are still showing symptoms.

The report states that social stigma, and feeling lifeless and/or alienated from one's peers, are two of the reasons why children and adolescents stop taking prescription stimulant medications.

Even though the medications can be useful in reducing the symptoms of ADHD, the social side-effects, and the physical side-effects, were too much to take for many.

    Heading for Guatemala Again
    Pixabaj School

Dallas and I will be heading back to Guatemala in January to continue working on the school project in Pixabaj.

We've completed the first floor, and I'll be helping to get things ready for six volunteer construction teams to come during January and February. They will work to complete the second floor.

The very first class of 130 students will begin January 22nd! Amazing! By the way, there are about 20 students that still need sponsors at $40 per month. Its a great way to change the world - one life at at time.
