NEFA'S PUBLIC ART DISCUSSION SERIES | |
The last Public Art Discussion Series event of the 2011-2012 season was spent observing a public art panel at Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Attendees learned the ropes of panel management from RISCA's Public Art Director, Liz Keithline, and gained valuable insight about effective proposal presentations from the three selected artists - Marilyn Bogdanffy, Cindy Kelly and Mela Lyman. Couldn't make it to the event? Check out the photos from the panel on NEFA's Facebook page! |

LynnArts recently celebrated the unveiling of the Lynn Mural Project, a three-story community based mural funded in part by NEFA's Fund for the Arts. Artists David Fichter, Yetti Frenkel and Joshua Winer not only painted the mural, but helped Lynn public school students to create the mosaics that are integrated in the artwork. The opening also celebrated Lynn's designation as a Cultural District by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Congrats to Lynn!
Photos from the opening can be found on NEFA's Facebook page.

FUND FOR THE ARTS PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
|
|
Fort Point Arts Community Public Art Series received a grant in 2011 from NEFA's Fund for the Arts. Heidi Kayser's performative public art work, "The Remodeling Project," is the last installation in the series. During the month of May, Kayser kayaked to a platform between the Summer Street and Congress Street bridges in Boston's Fort Point Channel. The platform served as a site for unscheduled guerrilla interventions about shared ideas of "home" and "social identity" that were informed by crowd sourced survey data.
If you missed seeing Heidi paddling to the platform, doing laundry, having a picnic, and working away in her new office space, then visit the project website for images, videos and blog posts.
