GREENWAY PUBLIC ART STRATEGY UPDATE
| |
NEFA hosted the Greenway's Public Art Strategy Update on April 29, 2012.
After the success of the first kick-off public meeting in February 2012, the Greenway continues to invite public participation in the process of planning a public art strategy through open meetings and online surveys, a process funded through a grant by NEFA's Fund for the Arts. The April 29th meeting held at NEFA drew over fifty interested artists, administrators and community members who came together to watch a presentation of draft strategies and recommended guiding principles given by Greenway consultants Jennifer McGregor and Renee Piechocki. The audience posed valuable questions and feedback in response, demonstrating the committed interest and enthusiasm for the Greenway's public art strategic plan.

NEFA GRANTEE INTERVIEW
| |
Marty exemplifies the power of art in engaging dialogue and promoting change. She is the founder/director of Art At Work, a national initiative to improve municipal government through strategic art projects with municipal employees, elected officials and local artists.
When asked about the power of creative engagement, Marty replied:
The process of making art dramatically increases our
ability to access flexible intelligence, to function
collaboratively, to analyze complex challenges, to
integrate contradictory perspectives, to envision a
positive outcome and to be willing to take the necessary
inspired risks that lead to innovative solutions. This is
what we need to make a difference.
