Last week you could hear a collective sigh of relief from the 8th floor of NEFA. Jim Grace, executive director of 

the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston, gave an informative and helpful workshop on legal 

issues for New England public artists and administrators at NEFA's Public Art Discussion SeriesJim provided attendees with confidence in negotiations; demystified copyright laws; and clarified contract processes.

Greenway Public Art Strategy Update

The Greenway wants to continue the discussion on the developing Greenway public art strategy with public artists and community members. The Greenway will present draft concepts for a public art plan and seek feedback from meeting attendees. If you missed the Strategy Kick-Off, you can learn about the process and view the consultant presentations here

 

This project is supported by Fund for the Arts, a public art program of the New England Foundation for the Arts. 
 
  

PUBLIC ART NETWORK 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW

 

The Americans for the Arts' Public Art Network (PAN) 2012 Year in Review is
open for 
submissions. Public art projects

completed in 2011 are eligible for submission. Selected projects will be presented at the 2012 Americans for the Arts Public Art Network Preconference in San Antonio. 

 

DEADLINE: April 11, 2012.   

Applications are submitted through CaFE.

A Permanent Interactive Public Artwork for the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles

  

 
Congratulations to Erik Carlson, a Public Art Discussion Series presenter for last September's "New Media and Emerging Technologies.In Passing is an interactive video installation that celebrates the unique movements of automobile travel, focusing a lens on Rhode Island's unique landscapes streaming past the car's side window. It was commissioned by Rhode Island's 1% for Art Program through the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
