Greetings!

Lead Pastor of Congregational Life

Fellow Montviewers,

While many of us come and go at church, busy with our lives, families and work, our Board of Deacons is busy building community at Montview. Supported in their work by Administrative Assistant Diane Cooper, the Deacons touch many lives every week.

"Helping Hands" offer their services of small home projects or transportation needs for those who need assistance, the flowers from each Sunday Service are delivered with love and a visit to someone who has been ill or needs a lift, the New Member team listens to our newest members, looking for ways to help new members find their way at Montview, the Companion Ministry program matches up folks who would like to visit others, with those who can no longer come to church, "Connections" plans congregational fellowship events through the year and the Soul Food Team makes home cooked meals to take to members who have been hospitalized, touched by grief, or to celebrate the birth of a new baby.

This Saturday the Soul Food Team will be gathering in the kitchen from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to dice, chop and cook meals that can be frozen and taken to folks at a later time. If you would enjoy the fellowship and love to cook, they would love to have you come Saturday morning. Many hands, make light work and giving of yourself makes your heart happy! If you can come this Saturday or would like to come to a future cooking day, please click here or call Brooke Durland at 303-722-7706. Clicking here also gives you a chance to express your interest in any of the other Deacon ministries.

Bring your heart and hands to Montview and together we become a community of love and service.

Blessings,

Cindy

The Rev. Ian Gregory Cummins
Lead Pastor of Spiritual Life

Hi Everyone,

Here is this week's Lectio Divina text:

"Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" And they answered him, "John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets." He asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Messiah."
Gospel of Mark 8: 27-29

Who is Jesus to you? At a church as theologically diverse as Montview, people have different answers to that question and many are still working their answer out. As I reflect on it, I notice that my answer to this question is different from my answer ten years ago and I bet it will be different ten years from now. Our understanding of Jesus changes as our life changes and hopefully matures as our spiritual lives deepen. Instead of thinking there is a single correct answer, maybe this is an invitation to reflect on our relationship with Jesus right now. Who is Jesus to you today? And who do you want Jesus to be to you tomorrow?

Grace and goodness,

Ian
