Greetings!

The trusses for the outdoor covered pool structure in
Templeton are installed. The  bridge and deck connecting a house and garage apartment in Pacific Grove were installed this week, there will also be a timber stairway and entry truss on this project.  We have 2 commercial SIP projects that we are supplying SIPs for, one in San Luis Obispo
and one in Nipomo.  The SIPs for the Nipomo project will be in our shop May 22nd for fabrication here.

Our work on the SIP and timber Kensington project is finished, exterior porch and all.

The SIPs for the home in  San Miguel are on site and being installed by the owner.

The first phase of the Pacific Grove  project was installed May 15th.

We have timber ordered for a new truss project in Ojai, to be delivered in June.

The Morgan Hill  Timber Frame and SIP home is planed for summer construction.

If you would like more information on our SIP, timber frame and truss projects in the works please contact us.

Tennon Testing
Pacific Post and Beam entered three tenons in the Tenon Testing at the 2012 Western Timber Framer's Guild conference at Assilomar.  The first tenon pictured was a tenon with blind wedges.  As the tenon approached the bottom of  the dovetail shaped mortise, the wedges were forced into the tenon deforming it into the shape of the mortise.  This connection held close to 5000 lbs before the tenon was pulled out of the mortise.
The second entry is a shaped tenon with a wedge/block.  The tenon is inserted into the mortise.  (The shape of the mortise is drawn on the side of the beam)  The dovetail side of the tenon is then shifted to the side of the mortise with the matching shape.  Everything is held in place by inserting an oak wedge/block.
