Winners!

Congratulations to Sidney Stepien, a fourth-grader at
Vinton County Central Elementary in McArthur, Ohio, and Julie Borger, librarian at McClain High School in the Greenfield Exempted Village Schools in Greenfield, Ohio, who are the winners in the first-ever INFOhio...Pass It On! contest. Their entries were drawn at random from more than 2,200 received in the contest. They each received an iPad 2 donated by the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network.

To enter the contest, which ran on INFOhio's website April 15-May 15, INFOhio users simply had to explain how they share INFOhio resources with others. Contestants could enter as many times as they liked, as long as each entry told a different story.

Miss Stepien wrote: "I told the kids in my class saying it helps kids. I told my family about it and I told all my friends and my teachers. I have been telling my brother to tell his friends about INFOhio.org.  I told my dad to tell his friends to tell their kids about INFOhio.org.  I told my sister to tell people."

All of us at INFOhio want to say thank you for your part in promoting this contest to increase awareness of INFOhio. It worked. During the month-long contest, we saw a 200+ percent increase in listserv subscribers, a 45 percent increase in Facebook likes, a 42 percent increase in newsletter subscribers, and an 8 percent increase in Twitter followers. We also noticed an uptick in the number of webinar participants and requests for INFOhio presentations.

Join INFOhio at the Battelle for Kids Strengthen Your Core Workshop, Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and at the Connect for Success Conference, June 27-29.

Spend June 26 strengthening your understanding of the Common Core State Standards at this workshop for educators who want to build on their base of knowledge of the Standards. Then spend three days with innovative educators from across the state to share ideas and inspiration on the most timely topics in education.

INFOhio will be at the Workshop with no-cost online resources educators can use with the Common Core.

Join us at the full conference on June 27 for the session "The New Learning Commons: Connect, Collaborate, Succeed with INFOhio." The session will connect you with self-directed tutorials on resources for inquiry, Web 2.0 tools, social media, widgets, and more in INFOhio's new Learning Commons for educators. You'll have the chance to discuss Common Core assignments for inquiry and share resources and successful practices with fellow educators. You can continue the conversation after the conference in Ohio's educator social network, the INFOhio Knowledge Building Community or KBC.
