People are saying...

"My students use Biography Reference Bank and Science Online to research famous scientists. The information is appropriate for students and I do not have to worry about what they are reading as opposed to doing general research on the internet. "

Kerri, Teacher, Granville Intermediate School
Your schedule doesn't slow down in the summer. But you can still earn professional development hours, even graduate credit, on your own time  with INFOhio. Browse through the links at left to learn more.

Have a great summer!
No Sweat Virtual Boot Camp

Save the Dates! August 6-8, 2012, for INFOhio's first-ever virtual conference: No Sweat Boot Camp on the Common Core for Librarians!

Join us online wherever you are to work out with new tools to help meet the demands of the Common Core.

Led by forward-thinking librarians and educators, we'll discuss designing inquiry-based and interdisciplinary short-term and long-term research projects, helping students develop their inquiry muscle, and using the right tools to find complex text. Participate in simple exercises to build your "Core" strength and prepare to take a lead role in your district's transition to the Common Core.

You can earn up to 15 contact hours or 1 hour of graduate credit toward professional development requirements.

Look for registration information and session times and titles in early July on INFOhio's website, www.infohio.org.
Flexible Summer Graduate Credit

Do you need to earn graduate credit hours this summer but don't know how you can fit it into your busy schedule? Then take a look at the credit options available with INFOhio's 21 Essential Things for 21st Century Learning.

This self-directed program teaches you how to integrate Web 2.0 technologies and 21st Century Learning Skills into your K-12 classroom.

Some of the topics presented include using Web 2.0 resources such as online folders and RSS feeds to keep track of research, finding key resources for science and technology classes, and encouraging good digital citizenship, such as citing sources accurately and observing copyright. In addition, the 21 Essential Things includes an online community that lets teachers share their best instructional practices.

INFOhio and NWOET have partnered to provide credit options for the 21 Essential Things program for very reasonable fees. You can earn professional development hours, a skills certificate, or actual graduate credit from Bowling Green State University or Ashland University

Work through the 21 self-contained modules online any time of day and learn new techniques for incorporating Web 2.0 tools and inquiry learning in your classroom in 2012-13 and beyond. Just register by June 18, 2012.  You can learn more about the 21 Essential Things and credit options and specific fees at INFOhio's Learning Commons website. Or call NWOET at 1-800-966-9638.

Keep Your Skills Sharp with 24 Free Webinars

Keep up with the Common Core, Inquiry Learning, the latest information on cyberbullying, and more up-to-the-minute education topics with free recorded Learn With INFOhio! webinars. Each lasts only an hour, and some districts will let you apply for CEUs for professional development by writing a short summary of the webinar. If your organization does not have a policy in place and will not accept your CEU request without a certificate of attendance, please contact registration@infohio.org to see if we can help.
