MA and PhD Scholarships at Central European University
Special IIENetwork Member Announcement on behalf of Central European University:
CEU has opened the application process for scholarship, fellowships, and admission for students who will begin studies in Fall 2013. Awards ranging from partial tuition scholarships to full fellowships including living expenses are available in most of the university's 38 degree programs in business, humanities, law, public policy, and the social sciences. Funding is also available for the University's 3 Erasmus Mundus European Master's progams in Environmental Science and Policy Management (MESPOM), Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) and Women and Gender Studies (GEMMA). Klein Family Scholarship
We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2012-13 application for the Klein Family Scholarship program.
This year's recipient Petra Richer, a graduate of the American International School of Budapest, has already begun her studies at Sewanee this fall.

Talented Hungarian and other Central and Eastern European high school students with high academic achievements and leadership potential are invited to complete the pre-application for 2012-13.
The Klein Family Scholarship provides funding for Hungarian and other Central and Eastern European high school students to receive a Bachelor's Degree at Sewanee: The University of the South, located in the state of Tennessee in the United States.
This year's pre-application and instructions will go live on our website beginning October 15. The deadline to submit pre-applications is December 3, 2012.

New York University Abu Dhabi

This fall NYU Abu Dhabi welcomed its third class of students to campus during the Marhaba orientation week. The class of 2016 comprises yet another group of remarkable students, 151 in total from 66 different countries.
The IIE Europe NYUAD Outreach Team is already on the road visiting top secondary schools and partner institutions across Europe. In October and November our Outreach Officers will be visiting Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. If you know of interested schools or students in these countries, please don't hesitate to contact us at nyuad@iie.eu to arrange a meeting.

IIE Europe at the 24th Annual EAIE Conference in Dublin, Ireland
We would like to thank all of you who attended our reception or stopped by IIE Europe's booth at this year's conference. We appreciated having the opportunity to share our programs and talk with you.
On the first day of the EAIE Conference we hosted the third annual IIE Europe networking reception with over 60 key partners attending. Conference participants also had a chance to drop by our booth to learn about our wide range of programs and activities.
EducationUSA welcomed visitors to its U.S. Pavilion featuring 14 accredited U.S. colleges and universities, promoting U.S. study to a European audience, and providing accurate, comprehensive, and current information about accredited higher education institutions in the United States.
We hope to see you all again next year in Istanbul, and look forward to continuing our conversations and collaborations in the coming months.
The European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference-the largest event of its kind in Europe-saw more than 4,200 international higher education professionals from over 80 countries in Dublin.

GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program celebrates its 10th anniversary in Hungary

This summer the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program celebrated its 10th anniversary in the Central and Eastern Europe region. On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice of Hungary, the Institute of International Education (IIE) and GE jointly organized a conference that took place in Budapest. Speakers at the event included Dr. Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State, Ministry of Public Administration and Justice; and Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, US Ambassador to Budapest.
The scholarships were handed to this year's winners by George Zolnai, President & CEO of Budapest Bank during a national award ceremony held at Design Terminal in Budapest.
As part of the conference, IIE organized a roundtable on the importance of cooperation between the various sectors to promote the development of future leaders in the CEE region. Participants included Dr. Norbert Kis, deputy secretary of state for higher education and science policies, Ministry of Human Resource; Dr. Andrea Juhos, Chair of Labor and Education Committee, American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary; Prof. Dr. Zoltán Szántó, Vice-Rector for Education, Corvinus University of Budapest; Márton Svékus, Director, Common Purpose Hungary; and also the vice rectors of "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Lodz University of Technology and Masarykova Univerzita Brno.
The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders scholarship program was designed to offer financial and professional support to participating students to develop their leadership skills and to contribute to the creation of an internationally competitive new generation of leaders in the CEE region, who can also help benefit their communities. Involving universities in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania, this year the regional network of GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders program scholarship holders is extended by additional 32 students, increasing the total number of participants to 430.
