5th Annual Pope John Paul II Lecture on Interreligious Understanding
The John Paul II Annual Lecture series organized and sponsored by the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue, the Russell Berrie Foundation and the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) features renowned religious leaders who embody the ideals of interreligious dialogue and understanding.
Now in its fifth year, this year's lecturer is Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Commission of the Holy See for Religious Relations with the Jews. His Eminence Cardinal Koch, a native of Switzerland, was created cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 shortly after the Pope nominated him as President of the influential Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
His lecture "Building on Nostra Aetate: 50 Years of Christian-Jewish Dialogue" speaks about the history, developments, and current state of Jewish-Christian relations since the Second Vatican Council established the foundation for the Roman Catholic church to engage in systematic dialogue with the Jewish people.
The lecture is free and open to the public, all those interested are welcome to attend. It will take place on Wednesday, May 16, at 4 PM at the Aula Minor of the Pontifical University St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Largo Angelicum 1, 00184 Rome, Italy.

GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders 2012 Awards
We are pleased to announce that the winners of the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program in CEE have been selected. 2012 is a special year as the Program celebrates its 10th anniversary in the region.
Eight awards per country have been awarded to talented university students from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. The 32 newly selected Scholar-Leaders will be publicly recognized at award ceremonies taking place in June in Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, and Romania. The added value of the Program in the CEE region is that the winners of the four countries can form a network of future leaders by participating in a Leadership Development Seminar Program to be held in Budapest in July 2012. In addition, the winners receive a 1500 EUR annual scholarship for two years and have the possibility to participate in a "shadowing day" with a GE manager in their respective countries. Winners are also expected to perform community service while in the program.
