On November 18 the America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF) and IIE honored 50 outstanding Bulgarian students who successfully completed their academic and entrepreneurship training in the United States as part of the Bulgarian Young Leaders Program (BYLP).
During the recognition ceremony in Sofia, select participants from the SEP and USAIP programs shared short stories about their experiences and the lessons learned from their training. The recognition ceremony also marks the induction of the 50 participants into the BYLP Alumni Network. The BYLP Alumni Network, which already boasts 70 members, aims to further foster cooperation and collaboration between young, Bulgarians so that they can help one another, as well as organize trainings, seminars and projects that will further the mission and goals of BYLP.
BYLP, which is generously funded by America for Bulgaria Foundation and administered by IIE, identifies Bulgarian undergraduate and graduate students of exceptional caliber, as well as promising civil service professionals and secondary school educators and provides them with unique scholarship, business and leadership training in the United States.
To that end, BYLP is comprised of four different, yet integrated, components: the Summer Entrepreneurship Program (SEP), the U.S. Academic Immersion Program (USAIP), the Junior Civil Servants Training Program (JCSTP), and the Education Leaders Training Program (ELTP).
