GE for CEE Special Edition

The GE Foundation, one of IIE's highly valued partners, has been supporting the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program in Central-Eastern Europe for 10 years now. The Program provides financial support as well as workshops, trainings and shadowing day opportunities to second year undergraduate students from selected universities in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania.

As part of the program, students are required to perform community service, thus giving back to their communities - much like GE does through its various CSR initiatives. A key goal of the program is to create a Central-Eastern European network of future leaders who can tackle and solve problems in the area using a regional approach.

This regional mindset is a key feature of the recently started GE for CEE blog as well. The blog aims to serve as a platform for meaningful regional discussion that will help solve some of the area's toughest challenges. The common approach and goal of the two initiatives makes it possible and beneficial to connect them and IIE Europe is pleased to present the GE for CEE blog to you.

Among the many interesting posts you can read about an exemplary Scholar-Leader, Jan Rieger; about regional awareness as manifested at the Sziget Festival; or the Leadership Development Program for the Scholar-Leaders of 2011. These are just some Scholar-Leaders Program related highlights - the blog has a lot more to offer for regionally minded individuals! You can subscribe to the blog here.
