Dorrance Study Abroad Program 2011

May 20-June 21

This year's Dorrance Scholarship Program study tour starts off before the students have even left the U.S., with its first stop in Washington, DC. After exploring the nation's capital for a few days, the students will depart for Europe where they will travel across three countries: Greece, Macedonia, and Italy.

During this month-long journey, the young scholars will have the chance to experience a wealth of culture firsthand: masterpieces of art, music and architecture, history and literature. The program offers students a truly unique set of opportunities to expand their horizons-both literally and figuratively-and grow as scholars and individuals.

A component of the Dorrance Scholarship Program, this study tour provides full scholarships for Arizona residents to complete undergraduate degrees at one of the three public universities of Arizona. The Program takes up to 20 scholars annually on a month-long tour of selected European countries (identified on a yearly basis by the Foundation), incorporating visits and experiences specially tailored to themes of History and Art.

Flinn Scholars Summer Seminar 2011

May 25-June 15

flinn2011

The Flinn Scholars Summer Seminar began last week, with students landing in Budapest on Wednesday.  This year students will spend three weeks travelling in Hungary and Serbia.

The goal of the Flinn Summer Seminar is to open the students' eyes and minds to this part of the world, give them an understanding of realities outside the United States, challenge their ideas and provoke thought about world issues. To achieve this goal, the IIE European Office annually puts together a diverse program, addressing issues from politics to architecture, and opera to economics.

This summer seminar is one component of the Flinn Foundation Scholarship, awarded annually to 20 outstanding Arizona high school seniors, provides full scholarships for four-year degree programs offered through Arizona's public university system.
