Oceanside Anglers Club NewsletterOctober 2011
Greetings!

Our next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th is the meeting that you don't want to miss. At this meeting you will decide who is going to run your club for the next two years. Positions that are available are the President, Vice-President, and several director positions. These positions require a two year term. We are still looking for more nominations so those of you that have enjoyed this club but so far haven't stepped up to the plate and donated a little time to the club NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!

Look how happy your President and Vice President are after serving the club just a year and a half!

Being on the board of the OAC is really a simple thing. The board meets from 2 to 5 times in addition to the regularly scheduled meetings. You might be needed to help hand out gifts to the Camp Pendleton YMCA, Help with a tournament, or just help decide which direction the club needs to go. Of course, help with getting speakers and raffle prizes are always needed.

Lobster Season

Night Lobster
Night Lobsters
That's Right, Lobster season is just around the corner. Time to get your hoop nets out and check out your dive equipment, lobster season starts at 1201 am on Saturday, October 1st!

If you are an experienced diver or just plain fearless with a divers card and want to go on a night dive opening day for lobsters send me an email or give me a call. I may have room for a couple of divers who want to get some lobster at night in the Carlsbad and Oceanside area. If you have a secret lobster spot even better.

Last Tournament of the year
Our last tournament of the year is a biggest fish tourney scheduled for Saturday October 8th. We have money that rolled over from last tournament so the payoff should be good for whoever pulls in the largest fish.

Oceanside Anglers Club T-Shirts with Pockets
We now have shirts in and they are going to the print shop. I am trying to have them for our next meeting, if not they will be available for us in November and the Banquet in February. If you want to reserve some before we runout send me an email to fallrent@tfb.com.

Catalina Classic

Orcas just off Catalina
Team Rickdiculous and Team Reel Nice N Easy just finished fishing the Catalina Classic and Avalon Billfish Marlin Tournaments. There were 21 boats entered and unfortunately there were zero marlin caught. Another slow year of marlin fishing off our coast, but we still managed to have a fun time. As you can see we ran into some orca whales just off Catalina. This was my first time seeing them in Southern California except Sea World. They really are a Beautiful thing to see.

Orcas Right Rigger!!!
Looks like the orcas were ahead of the jigs in this shot, might have been trolling to slow!

If you can't catch fish you might as well enjoy the boat, the ocean, and some cold beers!!

Cheers Boys!
