From the Lodge

Welcome to the new wing shooting season at The Webb Farm.  So many changes have occurred since we visited last, its hard to keep up with them all.  We try to give you a preview through Covey Call, but to be honest, simple words do little justice to all that has taken place. New construction to The Lodge gives us many more options for serving our guests.  We have added another hunting course, giving us the opportunity to hunt a fourth group.  We are very happy with the new guides and new dogs that await our guests this year.  The combination of native wild birds with our surrogated bird program continues to make The Webb Farm one of the most unique, yet traditional hunting experiences in the country.  And most importantly, my wife Debbie is still with us and doing a beautiful job in all aspects! On behalf of everyone here, we look forward to you hunting with us this season.

SunDog Kennels has the perfect hunting companion for you

When you hunt The Webb Farm, you get to see a lot of good dog work whether from the hard working pointers and setters, or the labs used for flushing and retrieving.  Our gun dogs are trained by head guide Wade Meacham, owner of SunDog Kennels.  Wade has several puppies and started gun dogs currently available for sale.  If you are looking for a hunting companion of the canine variety, contact Wade today!

News & Notes
Seen and Heard around TWF

This is a new section to Covey Call that we will drop in whenever there is something we just want to share with our readers.  Sometimes funny or sometimes poignant, we just like sharing with you!

He hunted right out of his boot...

Richard Kilbride hunted so hard with us on his day at TWF, that he hunted right out of his boot!  A quick thinking guide, Steve Stutts, pulled out an ever present roll of duck tape - hunter orange no less -- and in a few moments, they were back in the hunt!

Happy Birthday Sandy!

The Pair Family came to hunt TWF and celebrate mom Sandy's birthday!  She is quite the waterfowler, but as it turns out she 'shoots quail as well as anyone I've seen' according to Wade Meacham.  We hope Sandy and her entire family enjoyed the birthday celebration at TWF!

What Others are Saying

While the spunk of bobwhite quail at many commercial preserves is often lacking, birds on the Webb Farm seem bound and determined to make it to the end of the season. We put up both wild coveys and preserve birds, and nearly every bobwhite makes a frantic break for blue sky.

A new season is in full swing

Welcome to a new bird hunting season at The Webb Farm.  After a long, hot summer, we are back in action!  We opened the doors this year at the beginning of the month and we are pleased to report that our bird population is plentiful and healthy.  October is a great month to hunt with us, as many other wing shooting destinations have not started up yet.  But even with the early-season warm temps, the hunting has been terrific.  Several groups enjoyed early-season success.  Our solid surrogated bird program continues to supply us with a farm full of fast flying, wily birds that befuddle even the best shooter.  A recent guest commented that when you come to hunt The Webb Farm, "you better bring your A-game and quick reflexes."

Our dogs have their hunting legs under them and are working beautifully for us already this year.  We have added a few new ones to our kennels.  In the coming weeks we will be adding two nice pointers -- Jake and Cannonball (Cannon) to our working teams.  I am pleased to tell you that Albert, a beautiful setter who was out most all of last year with a torn ligament, is back on the team this year.

Bookings are filling up, so call soon to plan your hunting with us this season.  You wont want to miss out on all the action!

New Guides
A cadre of new guides join The Webb Farm staff for this season

We have several new guides working for us this season.  Wade, Steve, Ken, and David are back, and joining them are a group of guys who will provide you with a great experience at The Webb Farm.

Dick Andrews comes to us from southern Virginia.  He has been a guide for 15 years and brings a wealth of outdoors experience with him to The Webb Farm. Dick has guided upland shooters, turkey hunters, and fly fishermen throughout the south.  He is a self-described 'country boy' who is happiest when working a good brace of dogs over a bird field or knee deep in a swiftly moving trout stream.

Danny Hawks is a familiar face around The Webb Farm.  Danny has been on the Farm for several years, working with Bill on our bird feeding program, year around bush hogging, and general farm upkeep.  Danny has probably seen more of The Webb Farm than anyone!

Billy SiprianiBilly Cipriani is an Ellerbe native who grew up just minutes from The Webb Farm.  A forester by trade, Billy is an avid outdoorsman who can be found hunting turkeys, waterfowl, upland birds, or shooting sporting clays in his spare time.

Brett Webb is another outdoorsman who joins our guide group this year.  Brett has grown up in the outdoors spending time fishing and hunting all around the local area.  He has hunted The Webb Farm for years.  And no, Brett is not related to Bill!

The Lodge
Final touches being completed on the Roost

By the time you receive this edition of Covey Call, the new addition to the Lodge will be completed!  As you read earlier, we have expanded the Lodge, adding a new wing, dubbed  'The Roost," that nearly doubles our square footage.  The Roost has four bedrooms with private baths, a den with a fireplace and a kitchen with a dining area.  The new addition greatly expands our capacity for overnight guests, and if needed, offers dining and accommodations to separate groups.  All in all, the The Roost adds a new dimension to your experience at The Webb Farm.

Duck and Quail Hunt with Us
A limited number of combination hunts still available

We still have a few openings for our combination quail and duck hunting package.  We are excited to offer a limited number of exclusive combination hunts with our partner, Summer Duck Farm.  These combination hunts are available the weeks following Christmas through the end of duck season in January.
Summer Duck
We will hunt the waterfowl compounds of Summer Duck Farms, the 1400 acre private estate of John Georgius.  This means exclusive access to some of the finest duck hunting in the Southeast.  Summer Duck is located just a 15 minute drive from The Webb Farm. Hunters will have access to 80 acres of private duck impoundments and facilities.  This promises to be a very exciting and popular hunting package, so call today to reserve your spot for this limited availability hunt.
