Common Issues Facing the LGBTQ Community

In celebration of the recent launch of the LGBTQ Brooklyn Legal Assistance Project and our new legal clinic, please join LeGaL for a program focusing on some of the high priority legal issues encountered by visitors to our walk-in clinics.

This CLE program will address common issues encountered in the areas of Family Law and Housing.   The training will provide an overview of commonly presented questions from our LGBTQ clients and will equip attorneys in providing general legal guidance and referrals.

* Food and refreshments will be provided to attendees.

Some of the topics covered will include:

*    Marriage and other ways to protect your relationship
*    Dissolution of relationships
*    LGBT Parenting - custody, visitation and second parent adoption
*    Roommate Disputes
*    Resources for tenants living with HIV/AIDS
*    Succession Rights
*    Rent Regulated Apartments
*    Non-payment procedures for tenants or roommates

Attorneys interested in volunteering at the Brooklyn clinic are strongly encouraged to attend.  But all are welcome at the program. Attorney volunteer form available here.
