LeGaL New & Events

Announcing the Lesbian/Gay Law Notes Podcast.   LeGaL is pleased to announce the launch of the Lesbian/Gay Law Notes Podcast, which will feature Professor Art Leonard (and some guests in the future) discussing select stories from each issue of Law Notes.

For the September 2011 podcast, Brad Snyder, LeGaL's Executive Director, spoke with Art about three stories featured in the latest issue: the certification that paves the way for ultimate repeal of the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy; a Wisconsin case concerning a state statute that sought to bar payment for hormone therapy or sexual reassignment surgery for prisoners diagnosed with "Gender Identity Disorder"; and a Nebraska Supreme Court case concerning the rights of same-sex co-parents to pursue custody claims.

Writing a Better Bio: A Workshop with LeGaL Member Russ Korins.   Register today for this unique workshop being held Wed. 9/14, 9-10am in Midtown. Most attorney biographies simply report on previous experience when they should be strategically crafted to compel and assure prospects and referral sources. This workshop, open to LeGaL members who are practicing attorneys at firms of all sizes, will offer suggestions on ways you can improve your attorney biography, one of the most important aspects of legal services marketing. We will examine a model biography and work together on improving it. The workshop is free, but participants will be encouraged to make a donation in the amount of their choice to the LeGaL Foundation to support LeGaL's efforts in the LGBT legal community. Click here for details and registration instructions.
