Dear LeGaL Members & Friends,
Last month, LeGaL was proud to join with the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers Association, in addition to a diverse network of minority and specialty bar associations, who called upon the legislature to enact marriage equality legislation. We know many of you have been working hard to make marriage equality a reality here in New York.
But in these potentially final days of the marriage equality campaign in New York each of you can still make a difference. With polls showing that over 58% of New Yorkers are in favor of full marriage rights for same-sex couples the time is now for passage of this historic bill.
Our legislators need to hear from our community and our allies about the importance of marriage equality.
Please take a moment to visit the site of New Yorkers United for Marriage, a coalition of organizations working to secure marriage equality. The site provides all the tools you need to contact your state legislators.
You can also take a moment to donate to the coalition or to the participating organizations directly to ensure adequate funding for the vast array of lobbying efforts needed to secure this victory. And you can volunteer your time at phone banks and through other efforts.
