Fallen Navy Seal & Eagle Scout Brian Bill
Remembered at Candlelight Vigil

Advocate photo

The Connecticut Yankee Council lost one of its heroes this recently as Special Warfare Operator Chief Petty Officer Brian R. Bill, an Eagle Scout from Stamford's Troop 11, was killed when his helicopter was shot down in Kabul, Afghanistan on Saturday, August 6 that killed 30 American servicemen. Dozens of supporters gathered for a candlelight vigil this past Saturday in Brian's honor at Trinity Catholic High School in Stamford. Read the complete story in the Stamford Advocate

Brian BillIn an article in the Advocate earlier in the week, Bill's Scoutmaster David Welton said: "Brian was a special young man. When we went backpacking, he could carry more weight further and faster than any other Scout I have worked with. There was something very special about Brian, and you knew that. He was not like the other kids playing video games and talking about girls. Brian was all about being ambitious. He played hard and was serious about life."

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Brian's family for his sacrifice in defense of our country and share in the grief of our community at their loss.

Get Pumped For Popcorn at Kickoff

popcorn kidHas your unit signed up for the 2011 popcorn sale? Come to the Leader's Kickoff on August 18 to learn more about the sale, find out what's new and what has changed, and most importantly, earn a three percent bonus commission just for attending.

For those who are not sure or on-board yet, come hear what the sale is about. You do not need to be committed to attend the Kickoff. This is the Council's major fundraiser and is a win-win-win for the Council, for your unit and for all our boys. Both your unit and the Council earn at least 30 percent of the profit on every sale and your boys can earn great gift card prizes and other special recognitions. Please don't miss this opportunity to raise the funds necessary to have a great program for your boys. Be sure your unit is represented.

A key part of the fundraising is the silent auction and we are looking for auction items. If you have anything of value to fellow Wood Badgers that you would like to donate, please contact Ray Moncevicius at romaldasm@aol.com
