February 2010 Issue No. 2
IT IS GETTING TO THAT POINT!
Greetings all, this note is going to be heading out as a I add samples to a new gallery where I am uploading page layouts.  I am formatting them and getting ready to add / finalize text.  So this is where I need you to check this, check for accuracy and have a chance to work out any last minute issues, thoughts or reservations you may have. Many pages I need the names for credits. Models, Makeup-Stylists, if you were at a place and that place should be credited, websites etc....  Some I have blurbs other not so much - if you'd prefer a cleaner image and not so much text, say the word... if you see the others and want a bit of that sort of thing - let me know.

The page ordering is not as it will be in the final issue.  It will only be until I have all pages that I can see them and play with them to achieve a flow that is pleasing...  like 5 pages in a row with images of models against pink backgrounds would probably make me nutty.

For the grammar police, I am admittedly sloppy, you've all gotten my e-mails so this shouldn't surprise you, my girlfriend is an editor by trade and I make her nuts and I will task her to check on me at some point, but ahead of that, if anyone notices something and wants to point it out, please do.  Also this is not about the content itself, the images...  there's a lot of different styles, there are some images in this issue my girlfriend doesn't know why I like them so much and there are some she sees and loves that I don't think as good for printing.  Variety is one of the things I intended for this.

At the very beginning of the gallery are three images which are effectively a tutorial on how to use the comments functionality of the website, please use this as it places your comments right by the image.  You can highlight things to point out, and as I reply back you'll get notified, you can make it so your comments are private.  Some of you have used this already, thank you it helpd me immensely.  I am finding I am going crazy trying to associate models "pinup names" vs. their real names, vs. email address names.....  so please use this.

Soon I will be requesting releases from those I have not gotten them from yet.  If they don't make it a week or so before I go to press I will not run the page.

If you can't get to a fax, you can use a camera to photograph a signed release and your license and e-mail that to me.

Big thanks to those who have been promoting, pre-sales on the website have been exceeding my expecations which will allow me to divert some personal funding I would have had to use to print on advertising.  So far I've been doing web ads on relevant sites but I am trying to secure the space to get into the VLV13 program as it appears we should enjoy some opportunities there to move copies.

The $2 discount will be removed from the site about February 28th so this might be something to "speak to" for any of your fans who might not yet have gotten a copy.

I also found and fixed a problem with the postage applied to some of the people who bought multiple copies...it was way too much in shipping, so I did contact them and will be offering a refund on the shipping.  I am STILL trying to figure out some way to let you all into the store reports so you can check the books, see that I am accurately reporting sales.  I'll try to have this worked out by the weekend.

And in conclusion let me say, I have a pretty good feeling about this, there are.... too many .... people contacting me now about this. I am getting a ton of models and photographers expressing interest in the project.  When the smoke clears, we have it in hand, and you all get to use it to promote, make some money and catch your breath I hope we can share some experiences on the whole process.

The rest of this newsletter is one that I've been sending to prospective advertisers, you know we've gotten some?  Yes in the day of dying print publications, an economy in the tank Retro Lovely has gotten a number of businesses who have looked at what we've got and said "yes I want to be part of this".  Considering we have never done one before... can show them what we did... just an idea...  that is pretty heartening.

MAD ABOUT MASUIMI!

It is with great excitement that we announce the addition of contemporary pinup legend Masuimi Max to the roster of talent who are coming together to bring you Retro Lovely.  Issue one will be magnificently presented by a cover of Masuimi captured by the one and only Mitzi, a formidable talent in her own right.  We don't stop there. Inside, we share more of their work and interview them in a multi-page feature.
Retro Lovely is a forthcoming high quality pinup magazine which is already gaining a great deal of attention.  76 full color glossy pages packed with some of today's best pinup imagery from many of the scene's top Photographers and Models.  Scheduled to ship early in April 2010, Retro Lovely is destined to become a collectible item that will long carry your company's information.  Our advertising program is extremely unique in that we provide you, the advertiser, with copies of the magazine equal to the cost of the ad.  So if your company is just the sort who'd be obvious to carry and sell Retro Lovely, it would also be an obvious advertiser in Retro Lovely.  The copies you receive when sold, pays for the promotion.  Your customers pay you to have a reminder of your business AND they cover the costs for your exposure to thousands more.  Retro Lovely also taps into the social networking phenomenon as we offer the models featured in each issue, the capability to sell copies where they earn a commission, already this aspect has proven to be extremely successful. As a supporter of the project, your advertising will be promoted by these individuals and they are one motivated army.
