Behind the Scenes: Merry Malfroid
 

Less than one month ago Merry Malfroid oversaw her last newsletter and website posts for the Greater Grand Rapids Women's History Council. To our sorrow, today we report the devastating news of Merry's sudden death from an aggressive lymphoma.

 

For twelve years Merry has been presence in your lives. Usually she was invisible behind the scenes, but many community friends and organizations worked with Merry on Legacy projects over the twelve years she managed business and communications for the GGRWHC.

 

We first met Merry as an effective and efficient administrative assistant. Even before she was hooked by women's history and moved on to work as an effective and efficient volunteer, Merry supported our efforts beyond expectation with her trademark mild-but-firm honesty and expertise. Merry expected us to repay her investment in us.

 

We hope to continue paying that debt. Merry's friends and colleagues will continue to experience a profound loss. We will pay our respects on Monday. Please join us if you can.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23 at 11:00 am at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. Her family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral chapel:
