If you have been following GGRWHC over the past year through our e-newsletter and website, you will remember that we marched in the July 4th Hollyhock Lane parade, celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, hosted an oral history interview workshop, co-sponsored a program at the Ford Museum, and participated in the GRPL's exciting Local History Detectives Day in January--all after a very busy Legacy celebration last March and not counting programming this month. We have also been busy in not-so-visible ways underwriting research that can be used later as programming, brochures, radio spots, and photo essays. If you invest in GGRWHC, we can reinvest in women's futures by unfolding our past.
Next week the GGRWHC will host a reception both to show off new discoveries about local women's history and to celebrate the end of Women's History Month. If you haven't supported the organization recently with tax-deductible dues, please consider helping the cause via PayPal or by bringing your checkbook to the Women's City Club on March 31st for our then-and-now program on women political leaders during hard times. You don't have to donate to join the party, but an anonymous donor will buy current members a glass of wine! Check program details (www.ggrwhc.org) and reserve now: KSIrwin73@aol.com or 616-454-2425.
Over the course of the next year the GGRWHC will be assessing specific needs and, from time to time, will be adding to our board of directors. If you would like more information about opportunities to serve on committees or to volunteer for board duty, please send queries (or offers!) to or call Falinda Geerling at 616-735-0630.
Hope to see you next week! |
