Leave hibernation for an invigorating evening with visiting historian Mary Jane Doerr. She will enhance our emerging social history of Grand Rapids women by placing them among the national movers and shakers gathering at Bay View chautauqua sessions.
In the late-nineteenth century they rode the GR&I north to gather with intellectual luminaries, to discuss exciting new ideas, and to plot courses for change. And, until now, they have been left out of the record. At last, the significance of women as key players in the history of Bay View as well as the role of Bay View in the emerging women's movement have been clarified. Grand Rapids women were there!
