Deadline for Draft 2050 RTP comments extended


At its June 10 meeting, the SANDAG Board of Directors extended the public comment period for the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) to July 8, 2011. The July 8 extension includes the Draft 2050 RTP, its Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS), and the Draft Air Quality Conformity Determination (AQCD). The deadline for the public comment period on the Draft Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) Methodology and Allocation is July 28, 2011. The Draft 2050 RTP Environmental Impact Report (EIR) public comment deadline is August 1, 2011.


There are many ways to comment:
Remaining dates for public workshops and hearings
SANDAG will host one more public workshop with a public hearing from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 at the San Marcos City Council Chambers. The public hearing portion of the event will begin at 6 p.m. on June 16. This is the last of five public workshops/hearings being held in the region. Community members are encouraged to attend the event to learn more about the Draft 2050 RTP, a comprehensive blueprint for our region's transportation future during the next 40 years. Public comments on the Draft 2050 RTP, its SCS, the Draft AQCD, the Draft EIR, and the Draft RHNA Methodology and Allocation are welcomed.

Draft EIR released on June 7


SANDAG, as the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act, has prepared a Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Draft 2050 RTP and its SCS. The Draft EIR was released for a 55-day public review and comment period on June 7, 2011.


Written comments regarding the adequacy of this Draft EIR must be received by August 1, 2011. Comments may be submitted online in English and Spanish.
