I would like to express how grateful I am to you all for the overwhelming support in our transitional studio move.  In spite of the loss of one studio and schedule changes, you were encouraging with kind emails and comments AND you put your support into votes on the A-List.  It is great to be a part of the community of Bikram yoga in east county!

Al Atallah Does Four Classes in One Day!

Al Atallah did four classes on Saurday, August 25th, to celebrate his 62nd birthday.  Excellent job Al! Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!
 
He used this special occasion to raise over $750 for Smile Train; an amount that should cover the cost of changing three lives for the better! Thank you to everyone who participated in Al's birthday by either taking class with him, donating or both!
San Diego's A-List
 
Bikram Yoga La Mesa came in second for BEST YOGA STUDIO in San Diego.  While we didn't take first place, we did very well for our first year of participating.  Thank you to everyone who voted.  We'll win next year!

BENEFITS
  • A rejuvenation pose
  • Provides deep relaxation
  • Relieves stress and neck and shoulder tension
  • Aids migraine prevention or treatment
  • Helps with insomnia and anorexia nervosa
  • Assists in relieving digestion difficulties and constipation
  • Stretches the lower part of the lungs and increases lung capacity
  • Excellent for respiratory conditions
  • Increases circulation to the brain; good for memory and mental clarity
  • Firms abdomen and thighs
  • Improves mobility of scapula, deltoids, triceps and lattisimus dorsi muscles
  • Good for gout, diabetes and lower back pain

TIPS

  • If you have a gap between your hips and heels, bounce gently to stretch out the muscles, joints and tendons
  • Half of the benefits of this stretch comes from keeping your arms locked and biceps touching with your ears
  • Go down and up in one, solid piece with your back straight - don't buckle
  • Walk your hands forward with a side-to-side, rocking/crawling movement until your arms and shoulders are stretched to what seems the breaking point
  • 30 seconds in this posture can provide the same benefits to the body as sleeping for a full eight hours
Yoga Etiquette
  • Please do not leave rental mats and towels downstairs.  Please place them in the bins in the upstairs dressing rooms.  
  • Please put empty water/beverage bottles in the recycling.  We have two recycling bins downstairs and one in each dressing room upstairs.
  • Please arrive on time for class.  It can be disruptive to other students if you enter class late.  The class has a beginning and an end.  Pranayama breathing quiets the mind and provides a centering starting point for your practice.  You do yourself and your practice a disservice if you miss it.
