Greetings!

Thank you all for participating in the referral contest and helping to bring in new students to the schools. Here at Bikram Yoga we always hope to change peoples lives.

Your participation in the Smile Train fundraiser and your generosity is greatly appreciated as well.  Thank you!  You have helped to change numerous childrens lives forever. Please don't forget about yourself and your own yoga practice. It is easy to neglect ourselves, especially during the holidays, and maintenance is the hardest thing of all.

And a big thank you, and congratulations to Regina and Patrick who took two classes back to back in tutus on Halloween. They raised $1,634 and all of these proceeds went to SmileTrain, which will cover the cost of six surgeries to correct the cleft palates of six children!  Donations will still be accepted through November 7th.  If you would like to donate online please go to the Smile Train fund page and type in "tutu."  If we can reach $1,750, seven children will benefit from your generosity!

Pictures of Regina and Patrick taking class in their tutus are available to view on our Facebook page.

We would like to thank the students for their business and support. We are grateful to have such positive and motivational students in the yoga room. It is rewarding to see so many of you advance in class and gain so many benefits that this yoga has to offer.  During this holiday of offering thanks, we would appreciate it if our students provide us thanks by writing reviews on websites such as www.yelp.com or  www.angieslist.com.  We thank you all for your time and dedication.

POSTURE OF THE MONTH
Savasana

    SAVASANA
      (Dead Body Pose)

Medical Benefits:

  • Returns blood circulation to normal
  • Slows heart rate, reduces blood pressure
  • Teaches complete relaxation
  • Stills and calms the mind
  • Allows the body to absorb the benefits of the standing series
  • Builds the ability to access relaxation when necessary- in stressful situations, before bed etc.

 Tips:

  • Breathe and relax, while maintaining total stillness
  • Give Savasana the same concentration you give Eagle or Standing Head to Knee
  • Forget about your breathing, how it is going in or out
  • Consciously let go of as much tension as you possibly can
  • It is far better to concentrate on relaxing the body as a whole unit
  • Let the floor support you
  • Savasana is a powerful way to breathe life into your body
  • Using Savasana after certain postures FINISHES and accelerates the compression and release cycle in which internal organs are first deprived of blood, then flooded with it
  • This natural irrigation and internal cleansing that occurs after compression of the postures is HOW WE GAIN ENERGY THROUGH YOGA PRACTICE
  • Without Savasana, we discard less waste and receive fewer benefits
  • Savasana is the most important posture in Hatha Yoga
Yoga and Studio Etiquette:

* Please be considerate of others when showering by limiting your shower time to 2-3 minutes.

* Place only mat and towel rentals into the bins provided in each bathroom.

* Take any footwear off and place onto designated cubby by the front of each studio. Be sure to collect them when leaving or they will be donated to Goodwill at the end of the month.

* Please confirm with the front desk that you are signed into the class.

Yoga Etiquette Recap:

1.  Be on time.
2.  If you are late, please enter room after set is over.
3.  Place your mat on the line so that your mat is in the middle of the line.
4.  The back row and spots by the door should be reserved for new students or those who are not feeling 100% on any given day.
5.  If you leave the room, please leave and enter silently.
6.  Keep up the good work.
7.  Practice your yoga to the best of your ability with honest effort without distracting others and being distracted by other students.  Always focus on your individual Bikram Yoga practice each day.
8. Remember that we all come to the studio to practice our yoga together. With that said, please remember to move together in union as a group following the instruction of your teacher.
