Springtime brings change. Leaves re-emerge, flowers pop up, grass grows and weeds grow even faster. I, too, am in the midst of change. As most of you know, my mother has not been feeling well. In addition, the finances of the church are down. This is true of most churches today. I feel it is divine timing that these two things are happening concurrently.
So that I can assist my mother in her life, I am going to work halftime. I will work halftime until it is appropriate to return fulltime. I am not going away. I will be at the church less, but I will be here. I will speak Sundays unless I am on vacation or at a conference or workshop. Our administrator, Susan Dimaline, will continue to work 24 hours a week, but her hours will now be 10a.m.-6p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
This change gives the Trustees greater responsibility in church duties. This is not much of a stretch, however, since our Trustees are involved in cooking and cleaning and singing as well as the business end of the church. They do a great job in creating new ideas for fundraising and stepping up where needed. These Trustees are willing to provide sacred service with such love and grace. This is an especially appropriate time to step into sacred service.
Sacred Service is an expression of transformation.
By sharing our rich thoughts and loving actions,
we set free our innate power of giving. By being of service,
we are re-enacting the loving givingness of God
and therefore touch on the Sacred - our own Divine Nature.
Through this understanding of our giving,
we evolve from volunteers to Sacred Servers.
from Unity on the Bay, Miami
We have several places for sacred service. Below is a list, but sacred service is not limited to these. If you see something you are interested in doing, ask.
-Cleaning buildings
-Contributing to Youth Education Program
-Tending bookstore
-Mowing and tidying grounds
-Painting (small areas)
-Replacing light bulbs
-Serving as host/hostess for Sunday morning coffee
Give yourself the gift of sharing love though sacred service.
As we grow this Spring, be an active part of a group dedicate to spiritual growth.
Blessings for the Spring,
Rev. Sondra
