International Litters--Worth the Trouble! |

We have had litters with imported frozen semen from France, Sweden, Australia, Germany, and cooled semen from England...I think this is the first from Spain. The world is getting smaller and the available pool of genetic diversity gets larger!!
Dogo Canario Carlinos de Guadalcan passed away two years ago but his impecable traits are still being passed on by frozen semen litters here in the US.
Justin Stricker's Isabella, inseminated by Dr. Pearson of San Marcos Ca whelped a fine litter.
The report on the semen collection form from Madrid Spain stated the post thaw quality was "substandard". Not an encouraging report! Carol and Sue decided to use our CLONE thaw media to hopefuly improve the post thaw quality. Our thaw was 65-70%! We breathed a sigh of relief. The surgery was uneventful.
And the pups are living up to their working dog lineage. One is already in DEA training and another is becoming a Certifed Guard Dog.
Semen was originally collected in Madrid, Spain at the Hospital Veterinario Retiro, Dr. Ricardo P. Hernandez.

Fetch owned by Franchesca and Mario of Verona, Italy in town competing in an agility exhibition at the Whole Dog Center in Carlsbad, Ca, stopped by to leave some sperm for the U.S. ladies. And as soon as he left town, Tazer, owned by Stephanie Spyr came into heat! So the agility world will soon have incredible competitors!
