This evening workshop is an introduction to my 12 week in-person Relationship Success for Singles course that will be meeting in Novato, starting October 12th. We'll take breaks for holidays as needed.

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are getting ready for an enjoyable and enlightening autumn. We've had many great adventures this summer and have delighted in our baby Matthew's journey through infancy. What steps can we take to create lives and relationships that are truly successful?"
I'd like to share seven steps that turn the impeding beliefs I just discussed right on their heads. Today we'll start with the first step.
The first and perhaps most important step you can take is to love yourself.
Most of us are much harder on ourselves than anyone else ever is. Most people spend more time judging themselves and comparing themselves to others than loving, accepting and appreciating themselves. The voice in your head telling you that you're not good enough and you should be better is not helping you. This is the part of you that tries to keep you safe by keeping you small. This part of you will not let you grow and be your best self. Rather than listen to this voice, just observe and notice it, take a deep breath and know that you are not this voice.
There's another part of you that is wise and loving and knows that you are always magnificent just the way you are. Listen to this part of you. It just takes practice to learn to tune into the "self love channel" instead of the "beat yourself up channel." Commit to taking care of yourself the way you would care for a treasured child or child. You're worth it!
Your most important relationship is the one with yourself. If you aren't treating yourself with love and kindness, it's unlikely anyone else will.
Try on the belief "I love and accept myself." Several clients told me that when they love and accept themselves, they take better care of themselves, look and feel healthier, and enjoy their own company more. Lisa said that her friends and family noticed her new glow and asked her what she did. Annette shared that her boss and colleagues were acknowledging her more and showing her more respect. John said that when he felt shy and withdrawn, he rarely met anyone. Now that he's happy with himself, new, interesting people are showing up in his life.
Just imagine, if you felt great about who you are, and treated yourself with love and care, what would be possible for you?
