Happy Valentine's Day to you! My husband Steve and I still crazy about each other after six years together, and now we are madly in love with our new baby boy! His name is Matthew Adam Lyon and he was born on January 7, 2011. We have been thoroughly enjoying the adventure of our baby's first weeks and we have been utterly consumed with him (and exhausted of course - he likes to eat at least once every 2 hours!). "Dr. Wendy. why do you think so many of us have problems with our relationships at home and at work?"
I think so many of us have problems with our relationships, because we are operating from an old mindset that's based on fear and limitations. As children, we looked to our parents and teachers to learn how to relate to others. A lucky few of us found loving beings that were warm, compassionate and respectful of themselves and others. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us had adult role models who carried around a set of impeding beliefs, and were quick to judge and criticize, afraid to take risks, willing to settle for less than they wanted, and too busy to pay much attention to the quality of their relationships with others.
