Survey 2 revolves around organ donor and militia in disaster preparedness.
53% responded that they are an organ donor. 40% said that they are not. This is interesting. In the previous gun owner survey, I found that 80.5% of all respondents know CPR, and the vast majority of those answering explained their choice as a sense of duty. In the comments section of those questions, the idea of self-expectations came through loud and clear. This is remarkable to me, though not surprising.
However, responses to this second survey are below the subscriber total by about 70%. Of the total number of subscribers, only 30% are answering this second survey. I suspect this is due to the topic: some do not wish to be asked about militia. That's alright, I understand. The Survey continues throughout the month of May.
Question 3 asked: United States Code Title 10 describes the Unorganized Militia as volunteers who are not National Guard. In the framing era, Militia was the everyman because there would be no National Guard for another 130 years. Do you believe that such a militia within the meaning of the second amendment is most useful in both disaster preparedness and disaster management in the 21st century? Please elaborate.
92.0% said Yes and 3% said No. 1% said they'd rather not say, and 3.6% commented.
Question 5 asked: In the absence of any actual disaster incident, has any official body politically discouraged militia in your state or politically supported militia in your state or neither?
27% said their militia was politically discouraged and 5% said politically supported. 60.5% added comments which generally stated 'don't know' more or less.
The next few questions were all over the map with the majority of responses in comment section without answering the multiple-choice options. Further details on request.
Question 12: One of the main thrusts of the second amendment is that the individual retains control over many aspects of personal matters such that our own servants cannot ever reasonably imagine a need to substitute themselves for many of the tasks which rightly belong to the citizen. Do you believe that your militia is the embodiment of that value?
76.2% said Yes, 2.7% said No, 3.9% chose the third answer, "There is such a thing as sensible regulation." and 15% said they were not a member.
Question 13: Do you believe that some gun control interests are so opposed to private gun ownership that they disregard the law in imposing gun control?
97.6% said Yes, a < 1% said No. 1.3% checked Other, and remarked predominantly that they were uncertain.
