Design Element: It is essential that the gear motor application is thoroughly discussed and all parameters of use are clearly defined. This includes, but is not limited to some of the following issues: Weight of vehicle/equipment, weight of rider/driver, desired speed on level and slope, tire diameter and type, system voltage, controller characteristics, approximate size envelope and expected service life.
Gear Motor Type: The first priority is to determine how your vehicle/equipment will be driven. Do you want a single wheel drive, transaxle (open differential) or dual-wheel drive (2 independent drive units). Is steering to be a consideration? If so, the dual-wheel drive would be ideal. The transaxle option is ideal for supporting the vehicle/equipment, providing 2 wheels in contact with the ground and providing traction drive. The single wheel drive is just that, one wheel or axle that is turning. This type of single wheel drive can be used to drive the vehicle/equipment or provide an optional movement such as a primary drive mechanism, secondary gear ratio segment or actuator when assembled to a bracket or hardware.
Service Life: ASI designs the majority of our gear motors for a service life of 7 to 10 years, with lifetime lubrication. The optimization of gear cutting technology, engineered materials, premium seals and bearings, in-house machining and 100% end of assembly line testing provides the foundation of the service life reputation of ASI gear motors.
Systems Analysis: ASI's complete "system" understanding and experience allows us to design a true drop-in gear motor that will interface with the electronics and controls of the complete drive system. Further, ASI is able to provide complete gear motor systems utilizing all of the traditional and leading edge motor technologies such as PMDC Brush and Brushless, AC and AC Induction. ASI can design custom electronic interfaces and controls allowing for maximum performance and efficiency, all utilizing one part number or system kit number.
Industry Partners and Associations: Over the past 25years ASI has been able to gain valuable Industry Partnerships with several key drive system component manufacturers. These include manufacturers of controllers, battery chargers, electronic components, batteries, chassis hardware, tires/wheels, brakes, castings and other gear motor manufacturers. In addition we are current members of ISSA, AGMA and PTRA....enabling us to remain current and in contact with all industry changes and updates. We continue to grow these relationships and respect the assistance they put forth, making ASI a Global Leader in Gear Motors and Drive Technology!
