Hartt School Facility Improvements |
|
The Hartt School has made great improvements to facilities at the Alfred C. Fuller Music Center and the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center.
Floors in the five dance studios at the Handel Performing Arts Center have been replaced. There was severe unevenness discovered, which could have endangered our students and faculty. This work was done in February and was wholeheartedly supported by the University.
Six classrooms on the fourth floor of the Alfred Fuller Center have been upgraded with brand new SMART Boards (interactive whiteboards), audio equipment, speakers, and cabinets. This equipment was graciously provided by the Provost and follows the recommendation of the Hartt Technology Committee.
Percussion Room 24, much like all the practice rooms, has now been renovated to improve sound isolation with new carpeting, a new door, a reworked ventilation system, and sound diffusers. The room also has an improved sound system, financially supported by the Jazz Alumni Concert last April. We also thank Professor Celmer, in Acoustics, and his students for their work on designing the acoustical improvements and to percussion faculty member Eric McPherson for his involvement.
The floors in Bliss Auditorium have been thoroughly scrubbed and polished over break. Many thanks are due to our wonderful Custodian Edmundo Mera, who often works above and beyond the call of duty.
