Lions Gate Trio Events

 

On Saturday, March 31, at 7:30 pm, Hartt Collegiate students and Community Division chamber music students will join the Lions Gate Trio for Brahms and the Romantics: a concert of works by Brahms and other celebrated romantic composers. The concert will be in Millard Auditorium and admission is free.

 

The Lions Gate Trio will also give a performance on Tuesday, April 3, at 7:30 pm in Millard Auditorium. Admission for this concert is also free. The trio will perform works by Beethoven, Dvorak, and a new composition by Elena Kats-Cherbin entitled "Gypsy Ramble."

 

The Lions Gate Trio is The Hartt School's trio-in-residence and gives several concerts and masterclasses throughout the academic year, engaging both collegiate students and the Community Division's pre-college students. The Lions Gate Trio is comprised of violinist and Hartt faculty member Katie Lansdale, pianist Florence Millet, and cellist Darret Adkins.  

 

Suzuki Senior Recital

 

Graduating Suzuki students of The Hartt School Community Division Suzuki Program will present a Senior Recital on Sunday, March 25, at 7:00 pm at the Duncaster Retirement Community (40 Loeffler Road, Bloomfield). The recital features works by Bach, Corelli, Saint-Saens, Bloch, Foss, Faure, Dvorak, Mozart, Stravinzky, and Wieniawski. The performers have all dedicated many years and hours to their instrument and we congratulate them on their achievements and the bright futures ahead of them.

 

The recital is free and open to the public. Please join us for this beautiful concert.

Piano Honors Scholarship Winners

 

The Hartt School Community Division's 2012 piano scholarship winners were announced this weekend at the Piano Honors Recitals. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this program!

Hartford Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition

 

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra will choose the winner of its Young Artist Competition on April 1, 2012. The initial round of the competition has been completed and many Hartt Community Division students have been selected to go on to the final round. 

 

Best of luck to finalists Mingji Chen (piano), Yena Kang (cello), Anna Pan (piano), and Ethan Wu (piano).

Suzuki Observations for Fall 2012

 

SAASuzuki Observation Packets for Spring 2012 are now available.

 

Families interested in joining the Hartt Community Division Suzuki Program must complete the observation requirements prior to acceptance into the program. The Suzuki Observation Packet contains all details regarding lesson and group class schedules and information about how to complete this requirement. Faculty Recital: Windsor Johnson, piano

 

Hartt Community Division piano faculty Windsor Johnson will give a recital on Sunday, March 25, at 2:00 pm in Berkman Rectial Hall. His program includes works for solo piano by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Clementi and Satie. The concert is free and open to the public.
