New Dance Classes at Simsmore Square 

The Hartt School Community Division is pleased to announce new Children's Ballet class offerings at our Simsmore Square Location (540 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury) beginning Monday, January 23, 2012. We are also introducing a brand new class called Dance with Me for children ages 1-2. These new classes will be taught by Julianne Guarnieri , a recent addition to the Hartt Community Division dance faculty.

The Community Division welcomes Julianne Guarnieri 
Guarnieri
The Hartt School Community Division is pleased to welcome Julianne Guarnieri to the dance faculty. Ms. Guarnieri received her early dance training at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, Connecticut under the direction of Susan Mahteke and went on to earn her bachelors degree in Individualized Studies in Dance from Charter Oak State College and her diploma in Dance Pedagogy and Performance at the Hartford Conservatory. While at the Conservatory she studied with Jeanne Giroir, Sonia Plumb and Linda Burns and interned with Jacques D'Ambroise of the National Dance Institute. As a performer, Ms. Guarnieri has participated in American College Dance Festivals and Ted Hershey Dance Marathons (Hartford, CT). She is currently a member of the Hartford-based Sonia Plumb Dance Company.
Adult Chamber Music Concert
Adult Chamber Music
Ensembles from the Hartt Community Division's Adult Chamber Music program will perform on a recital on Thursday, January 19th, at 8:00 pm in Berkman Recital Hall. The program includes works by Haydn and Moszkowski. 
 
Interested in playing chamber music with other adults? Join us for the spring session! The Adult Chamber Music program  is open to string, piano, woodwind, and brass players. Ensembles are organized by interest and ability and are coached by Community Division faculty. Participants enjoy the challenge of playing an independent part, the richness of the repertoire, and close personal contact among colleagues.

Reminder: West End String Quartet performs this Saturday
Don't forget! The West End String Quartet and will present a recital this Saturday, January 14, at 8:00 pm in Berkman Rectial Hall. The quartet will be joined by Community Division faculty member Ruth Bergman for the Brahms String Quintet. The concert is free and open to the public.

Johnson String Instrument Rental Event
johnson logoJohnson String will visit The Hartt School to deliver rental violins, violas and cellos on Tuesday, January 17th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in Room 21 at the Fuller Center. You can order instruments or accessories by calling (800)359-9351 or by going to the Johnson String Instrument website. Orders placed by 5:00 pm on Monday, January 16th, will be delivered at the January 17th Rental Event. For more information go to johnsonstring.com.
