Road Closures for the Hartford Marathon
 The ING Hartford Marathon is on Saturday, October 15th. There will be road closures in parts of Hartford, East Hartford and West Hartford starting as early as 7:30 am and ending as late as 2:00 pm. Check the ING Hartford Marathon website for specific traffic information in your area and around the University of Hartford. Please allow extra time to get to classes and lessons. We suggest approaching the University Campus either through Bloomfield or West Hartford. Going through West Hartford via Trout Brook Road or through Bloomfield via 218 may be good alternatives. |

Chamber Music Master Class: Friday, October 14th
The West End String Quartet will be coaching the Community Division's first chamber music master class of the year on Friday, October 14th, at 7:30 pm.
The class will be held in Berkman Auditorium and will include performances by the JAMS String Quartet and the Nino Rota Harp & Strings Quartet.
This event is free and open to the public. We hope you can join us for an evening of great music and insightful teaching!

Spotlight on African Dance
Did you know that the Community Division offers an African Dance Class for adults? The class is held on Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm at the Handel Performing Arts Center and it is taught by Stephen Hankey.
African Dance is an excellent class for developing strength, aerobic stamina, coordination, flexibility and rhythmic awareness through authentic dances which incorporate their historical and cultural contexts. Newcomers can try one free class before registering. Ten-class dance cards and year-long registration are also available.

Reminder: Adult Chamber Music Play-In
The Adult Chamber Music Play-In is quickly approaching! It's not too late to pre-register for the event. All levels are welcome and the West End String Quartet will be joining us for the three reading sessions. Visit our website for more information. We hope to see you there.

Master Class by the Emerson String Quartet
 The world-renown Emerson String Quartet will be performing for a sold-out concert at The Hartt School on Thursday, October 13th, at 7:30 pm. With more than 30 albums for Deutsche Grammophon and nine Grammy Awards to its credit, the Emerson is the world's most celebrated and honored quartet. If you were not able to purchase a ticket to the concert, you can still be part of the experience. Emerson violinist Philip Setzer will be giving a master class on Thursday, October 13th, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in Millard Auditorium. Performers will include Hartt School performance majors. |
