The Kronos Quartet will be performing at the Jorgensen Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, September 27, at 7:30 pm. Hartt Community Division Students can buy two tickets for the price of one. Contact the box office for more information.

Piano Ensemble Class Begins October 7th!
The Community Division Piano Ensemble Class will begin on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 4:00 pm. This program will be for pianists only and we will work in pairs on four-hand literature. At the end of the year there will be performance opportunities. The class will embrace a quick learning environment and emphasize the development of solid rhythmic, sight-reading, and ensemble skills. With a focused year of honing these aspects of musicianship, pianists will be well-prepared to participate in chamber ensembles with a variety of other instruments. 

Class size will be limited to 6 pianists.  Pianists must be 12 years of age or older. Tuition is $648.00 for the year and Community Division Private Lessons Students receive the discounted rate of $492.00. Contact Andrew King for placement and program information.

Rose for Regionals: Clarinet Master Class
Community Division faculty members Adam Berkowitz and Alan Francis will be teachinRose For Regionals, a master class specifically for high school clarinet players. The class will focus on Etudes No. 15 and 20 from 32 Etudes for Clarinet by C.Rose.
 

The master class will be held on Saturday, September 25th, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Room 21 (The Hartt School). It is free and open to Hartt Community Division clarinet students in high school. Please reserve your spot by contacting Alan Francis at alanfwhea@aol.com

Park Road Parade!

The Hartt School Community Division invites dance students to join the Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy for the 13th Annual Park Road Parade. The parade is on Saturday, October 1st, beginning at Ringgold Street at 10:30 am and ending at South Quaker Lane. Participating Community Division dance students will be meeting at 8:30 am at Ringgold Street.

Adult Chamber Music Play-In
Adult string, wind, brass, and piano players: please join us for our Adult Chamber Music Play-In on Sunday, October 16th. This will be an afternoon of chamber music reading and socializing with other adults who share a love for this art. All levels are welcome; we will pre-form groups based on advanced registration in order to match varying abilities. 

The Play-In will start at 1:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm. There will be 3 reading sessions throughout the day. The Hartt School Community Division's Quartet-In-Residence, West End String Quartet, will also be joining us for the day. 

 

The cost is $10 for early registration (must reserve a spot online or by phone by October 14th), $15 for Walk-in registration and free for ACMP Members.

 

Light refreshments will be served.
Early Music Ensembles
The Community Division is pleased to announce registration for its Early Music Ensembles, featuring the Renaissance Ensemble and Baroque Ensemble. These groups will meet for three ten-week sessions which will be held on Thursday evenings at The Hartt School. Participation is open to violin, viola, cello, viola da gamba, guitar, flute, recorder, oboe, bassoon and keyboard players who have good sight-reading skills. A harpsichord will be provided and performance opportunities will be available throughout the year.

 

Baroque Ensemble Schedule:
Renaissance Ensemble: Thursdays, 6:00-7:00 pm in room 107

 Baroque Ensemble: Thursdays, 7:30-8:30 pm in room 107

 

The first 10-week session begins on October 13th. Contact ensemble director Laura Mazza-Dixon to schedule a placement audition or for information.
