Audition Day Wrap-Up
The 2011 HCD Audition Day, held on Sunday, June 5th, was a rousing success, more than 400 students auditioning for HCD choral ensembles and instrumental ensembles for the 2011-12 school year! 
  
Audition results will be emailed to most students by the end of the day today, Friday, June 10th.  Remember to add audition@hartford.edu to your email address book, so that we can get through your SPAM filter. If you have not received your results by Monday, June 13th, please email us at harttcomm@hartford.edu or call 860-768-4451 to receive your results.
  
  
A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to The Sunde Family, and the members of the HCD Advisory Board for providing a delicious and festive feast for the adjudicators, faculty and staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day.

Suzuki News
Suzuki Leadership Retreat in Dallas, Texas
HCD Suzuki Faculty at 2011 Suzuki Leadership RetreatSuzuki Faculty Teri Einfeldt, Malgosia Lis, Jessica Meyer, Donna Ngai and Diane Slone participated in the Suzuki Leadership Retreat in Dallas, Texas, which took place May 25th to May 29th.
They participated in lectures, demonstrations and discussions.  All were presenters as well.
  
Suzuki Association published a book by Malgosia Lis "The Life and Letters of Frederic Chopin". 

The book started as a four-part series of articles originally published in the American Suzuki Journal. The 41-page book features many color photographs as well as original translations of Chopin's letters by the author.

HCD Trio Wins the 1st Annual Rayburn Chamber Music Competition

1st Annual Rayburn Chamber Music Compeition:

The final round of the compeition was held on Monday, June 6th at the Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School in New Haven, CT

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at Playhouse on Park
You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown!Playhouse on Park's production of the delightful family musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown runs June 15 through 26, and features Hartt Music Theatre alumna Lindsay Adkins (pictured) as Lucy.  Hartt alumnus and Community Division faculty member Emmett Drake serves as music director, as well as HCD dance and vocal student Dante Jeanfelix.

Important Spring Festival Schedule Changes:

Levels A - C
ˇ Monday, June 13th - There is NO Warmup for levels A-C
Students should arrive at the PAC (Performing Arts Center) at 5:30pm

Levels A & B

ˇ Tuesday, June 14th - Only those student's in the Junior Ensemble Piece 'Czardas' attend rehearsal at the Millard Auditorium.  Call time is  5:30pm.  Rehearsal should be finished by 6:30pm.

Junior Ensemble

ˇ Thursday, June 16th   Call Time 5:30pm

ˇ Friday, June 17th       Call Time 5:30pm

ˇ Saturday, June 18th    Call Time 5:30pm

Fundraisers & Benefit Concerts

Brahms Sextet presents Benefit Concert on June 12th

HCD students Noah Boden, Maggie Kluznick, Stephen Zaksewicz, Laura Cohen, Gunnar Moll, and Selah Kwak present a benefit concert for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Pennies for Peace Benefit
Sofia Gilchenok, a viola student of Melinda Daetsch, invites you to attend a benefit concert for Pennies for PeaceSaturday, June 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in room 410/412 at The Hartt School.  Sofia and friends will be performing works by Telemann, Vivaldi, Dvorak, Haydn and Bach.  In addition to classical music, some friends will also be playing fiddle tunes.
