The Connecticut Classic
Please wish the very best of luck to four of our dancers who will be competing in the Connecticut Classic. This is the first Connecticut Dance Alliance Classical Ballet Scholarship Competition for pre-professional students. The competition is being hosted by Westover School in Middlebury, CT. Dance Department students who will be competing on Sunday, March 13th are: Gabrielle Collins, Alice Garsuah, Noami Lemire and Kathryn Manger.
Ted Hershey Dance & Music Marathon
The 13th Annual Ted Hershey Dance & Music Marathon will be held this Saturday, March 12th at 7pm at the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford. This year the Dance Department will be presenting variations from Le Corsair danced by Gabrielle Collins, Kathryn Manger and Katrina Schmidt. For details: http://www.tedhershey.com/
Hartt Dance Division Senior Concert
The Hartt School Dance Division presents 'Pinnacle of Pursuit'
Friday, March 11th at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 12th at 2pm and 7:30pm in the Roberts Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center. This concert will feature the works of the Hartt Dance Division seniors.
Tickets are $20 general admission or FREE with a University of Hartford ID. Contact the Lincoln Theater Box Office for ticket information at: (860) 768-4228.

Senior String Honors Recital Join us for the Senior String Honors Recital on Saturday, March 12, 2011, 7:00 pm in Berkman Recital Hall, featuring the Hartt Community Division's top string players. These students were selected by audition, and our adjudicators were Dr. Jeffrey Cox, Chair of the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst; and Andrew Mark, Chair of the Department of Strings at Boston Conservatory of Music and cellist in the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Performers: Matthew Hannau, Meredith Keen, Maggie Klucznik, XingYing (Anny) Li, Gunnar Moll, Luke Piscitelli, Tiana Piscitelli, Trent Ransom and Shreya Sachdev. In addition, two alternate performers were chosen: Elizabeth Hong & Andrew Schreindorfer.
This concert is free and open to the public. Please come see the HCD's top string players in action!
Junior String Honors Recital
The Junior String Honors Recital features HCD string players in grades 6-8 who have been recommended by their HCD private lesson teacher. This year's participants will be: Sophia Gilchenok, Gioia Gedicks, Dan Hardiman, Austin Zhu, Priscilla Back, Kaila Piscitelli, Joel Margolis and Miriam Peschet.
The concert will be held on Sunday, March 13, at 6:00 pm at the Duncaster Retirement Community. Free and open to the public.
Susan Cheng in concert with the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra
Susan Cheng, HCD piano faculty member, will be performing the Brahms d minor Piano Concerto on Saturday, March 19, at 8pm in Wallingford. Click here for more info about the concert.
11th Annual Women Composers Concert Come out to see Hartt Community Division Voice Faculty & Guest Artists perform in the 11th Annual Women Composer's Concert on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 5pm in Berkman Recital Hall. This concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will include music by women composers: Libby Larsen, Hartt Alum Gwyneth Walker, Clara Schumann and Sarah Meneely-Kyder as well as the 2011 VOCAL SCORE CALL WINNERS: Dale Trumbore and Beth Anderson.
The Connecticut Doctors Orchestra The Connecticut Doctors Orchestra will be presenting a benefit concert Sunday, March 25th. The concert will include appearances by The First Church of Christ Women's Praise Choir, Simsbury High School's men's and women's a capella groups, and Ethel Walker School's a cappella group "The Grapes".
Free-will donations will be accepted for the purpose of completion of the construction of a health clinic and the provision of bed nets in the village of Bawa, Cameroon.

Established in November 2008, The Connecticut Doctors' Orchestra (www.thecdo.com) is comprised of a group of health care and medical science professionals who love music and wish to share music with the community. Our members are physicians, nurses, biomedical scientists, and medical and dental students making it one of the nation's few string orchestras whose musicians work in the health field. The CDO's conductor is Eric Dahlin (HCD Cello Faculty) and the music director is Melinda Daetsch (HCD Suzuki Viola & Viola Faculty). |

2nd Annual JC Music Solo Competition Announced!

This year's competition is for Woodwind, Brasswind and String players from grades 6-9 and includes students from throughout Connecticut. Preliminary auditions will be held on Thursday, April 14th, 2011 through Saturday, April 16th, 2011 at JC Music, 529 West Main Street in Meriden. If you cannot attend the preliminary audition dates, contact JC Music at (203) 630-2496, to arrange an audition.
Final Auditions held at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center in Meriden on May 7th, 2011 starting at 10am.
Registration Deadline: March 25, 2011.
