| CCC Concert Choir invited to perform at CMEA's Annual Conference | | |
We are proud to announce that the CCC Concert Choir has received an invitation from the Connecticut Music Educator's Association (CMEA) to sing a featured concert at this year's annual conference. The CCC Concert Choir was chosen after submitting a recording for review by a CMEA committee. This is probably one of the biggest honors a performing ensemble can receive in the state.
We are very proud of our Concert Choir! They will be giving a 30 minute performance during the CMEA conference which will be held April 7-9, 2011 at the Convention Center in Downtown Hartford. |
| CYS Concerto Competition Winners Announced | | |
In December, members of the Connecticut Youth Symphony and piano students of The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) gathered to compete in the Annual Connecticut Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.
The jury panel consisted of Elsje Kibler-Vermaas (Director of Community Engagement and Education for the Hartford Symphony), Aaron Flagg (Dean of The Hartt School) and Emmett Drake (Director of the HCD Suzuki Orchestras).
The level of performance was its usual quality of excellence and the competition was intense! After careful and detailed deliberation, the jury panel selected two outstanding performers as winners of this year's competition:
Gunnar Moll, a violin student of Teri Einfeldt. Gunnar will perform the last movement of Bruch's Scottish Fantasy "Finale; Allegro Guerriero"during next Fall's concert program.

Ethan Wu, a piano student of Sima Brodsky (both pictured on left). Ethan will perform the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Edward MacDowell with CYS in May.
Unfortunately, we could only designate two winners; however I am happy to congratulate all of the competition participants for their outstanding performances!
